Modernization and Retrofit of Industrial Machinery
At SIAPI Automation, we offer complete solutions for refurbishing or modernizing existing industrial machinery and electrical panels.
Modernization or retrofit is an effective and cost-efficient alternative to replacing entire systems. It extends the machine’s service life, improves safety, ensures compliance with current regulations, and can even incorporate new technological features.

What is Industrial Machinery Modernization or Retrofit?
Industrial machinery modernization, also known as retrofit, involves updating the electrical, electronic, and control components of existing equipment to improve performance and bring the machine up to current technology standards.
This process allows old machines to be renewed or enhanced without the need for full replacement.
Advantages of Modernizing Machinery and Electrical Panels
Upgrading industrial machinery offers multiple benefits for companies.
Cost savings
compared to purchasing new equipment.
Regulatory compliance
and improved operational safety.
Increased productivity
and process reliability.
Integration with systems
control, monitoring, or IoT.
Retrofit and Refurbishment Services We Offer
With more than 30 years of experience in industrial automation and control, our team provides:
-
Replacement of obsolete electrical or electronic components.
-
Electrical panel upgrades, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA integration.
-
Migration of old programs to new systems.
-
Adaptation to new industrial safety standards.
-
Integration with IIoT systems for data monitoring and remote machine control.
-
Partial or full modernization of existing equipment.
Typical Industrial Machinery Upgrade Scenarios
Our modernization services are particularly useful in situations such as:
-
Machines that work mechanically well but have outdated control systems or electrical panels.
-
Equipment that no longer complies with safety regulations due to legislative changes.
-
Processes that require greater control, real-time monitoring, or remote operation capabilities.
-
Machines needing migration from old PLCs to modern systems for program updates.
-
Machines requiring the addition of an HMI to enable new functions or modifications to the original control system.
Recent Projects

Complete electrical panel refurbishment: PLC and HMI replacement with new programming due to the original program being unrecoverable. Faulty drive replaced. Damaged components replaced, full rewiring performed, and new electrical schematics developed since originals were unavailable.

Complete refurbishment of an electrical cabinet door: sheet metal repaired and repainted, faulty 7" HMI replaced with a new unit, new functions added, and pushbuttons replaced.

Full electrical panel refurbishment: complete rewiring, replacement of damaged components, protection upgrades due to increased motor power, addition of a safety relay, and machine rewiring to meet current standards. Electrical schematics developed for the customer, as none were originally available.

Modification and refurbishment of an electrical cabinet to convert a hydraulic press from manual to automatic operation. PLC added to collect different digital and analog signals and control the new automatic sequence. HMI added to enable modification of various operational process parameters.
